Thanksgiving

The Shepherd's Fold Apostolic Church wishes everyone a blessed Thanksgiving. Remember among all the good food and family fun, that there is no better way to give thanks than to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life. Ephesians 5:20 "Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." and Psalm 100: 4 "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him and bless His name."

It is great to be able to set a national day aside to gather with friends and family and enjoy the blessings. But to make Thanksgiving Day truly a day of Thanksgiving we must have this attitude every day of the year. God inhabits the praises of His people and desires to be worshipped. If all Thanksgiving Day means to you is football, food and hitting the stores early for all the sales- that will not carry you through the rest of the year. We must have an attitude of thanksgiving every day of our lives. Those of us who have found salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord have found the true basis for all thanksgiving. If not for Him and His salvation, we would not have anything to be truly thankful for.

Review your life today. Look at your attitudes on a day to day basis. Are they really glorifying God? Are you rude, unkind and abrupt? Are you unthankful for even the small things? God wants you to change that. He wants you to have a heart of thanksgiving every day, all day long, all year. It can only be done when we allow ourselves to be immersed in the Spirit of God on a daily basis. He will come in and help us to change our ways. He gives us His Word and His Spirit, and with these two- we are able to allow the changes to come into our lives.

This Thanksgiving- Give God the thanks first! Give Him your heart and your problems. Even those who have been saved for many years need from time to time to come into His Presence with singing- and acknowledge that we can't make it on our own. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to indwell us so that we show forth a Christ like attitude. Do it- today- now- enter His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Ask for forgiveness for the bad attitudes and unthankfulness and thank Him for all that He has done for you.
