Don't Get Caught Up in the Mad Holiday Rush

The beginning of November usually starts up the winter holiday season. In all the hustle and bustle of this wonderful time of year, don't get caught up in the spirit of the world but keep the spirit of Christ within you. You may feel you just can't do all the things you normally do at this time, bake all those good foods and treats you want to bake, buy all those things you want to bake and make all those things you want to make. That's ok! I think that we as Christians should start thinking more simply. After all- Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks for what we already have- and Christmas is a time set aside to give thanks for the wonderful Gift of God's Son Jesus Christ. Don't be deceived into thinking that you have to have the newest and best thing, you have to give the latest fad that's on the market. Don't get caught up in the worldly spirit of greed, but get caught up in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Take this time of year and use it a time to get to KNOW the REASON why we celebrate it. Don't forget to be faithful to your church services and your personal time of prayer and Bible study. Remember Matthew 6:25-33- tells us to not worry about our lives but that in verse 33--"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."  I have found out in my life that when we seek His kingdom first, He always provides what we need and we also find out we don't need as much as we think we do.
