Come Unto Me

John 7:37-39
"37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."

On the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus stood up in the middle of the crowd and  loudly told the people to come to Him. If you could put yourself there. This was a joyous celebration commemorating  how God had sent water from a rock. (Ex. 17). The people were watching the  priest as he went about his ceremony. They didn't even realize that the true fulfillment of the meaning of this feast was in their midst! Imagine, going about your routine and then having someone with the audacity to stand up and shout- "Come to Me!" Some must have thought: "How rude of this man! Does He not know what this celebration is all about? How dare He interrupt us! We are here gathered to celebrate a great happening in our history, and here is this man, standing up and shouting-- "Come to Me!" He is taking the attention off the priest and the ceremony and directing the people to Himself."

Jesus is doing the same thing today. He is trying to get His people's attention off of other things and drawing their attention to Him. Many who are thirsty and dry spiritually try to fix their problems with worldly solutions. It is a spiritual problem and only can be fixed spiritually. Jesus is the water of life and gives that water that will truly satisfy.

Have you tried Jesus today? Is He crying out loudly in the middle of your situation but you consider Him to be an intruder? Why not try Him today? He is still calling out: "If anyone thirsts, let Him come to Me and drink."
