Leaving It All Behind

Ruth 1:14-18
"Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. And she said, 'Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.' But Ruth said, "Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die; and there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.' When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her."

Ruth left everything to stay with her mother-in-law. She left her land, her family and everything that she knew. She was DETERMINED to stay with her mother-in-law.

This is the attitude that Christ is looking for in His people today. Many want to be "saved" and eventually go to heaven-- but they don't want to make or keep a commitment to stay with Christ no matter what. They don't want to give up their lives, their plans, their ideas and lifestyles. They want the end goal to be heaven, but they aren't willing to fill up the time in-between getting "saved" and going to heaven with a Christ centered life. They just want the benefits of a heavenly eternity without the requirements or the commitments which it takes.

Are you willing to give up everything to follow Christ- wherever He leads?
Do you have the determination to obey Him and follow Him wherever He leads?

This is what a true Christian life is all about--- it's all about Jesus! It isn't about what we want, our plans and ideas. It is about surrendering our lives to Christ's control.

Where You go, Jesus-- I will follow. Is that the attitude of your heart today?
