Resurrection Power!

Image
Luke 24:1-9   (1)"Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing spices which they had prepared. (2)But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. (3)Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (4)And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold two men stood by them in shining garments. (5)Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, 'Why do you seek the living among the dead? (6)He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, (7)saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' (8)And they remembered His words. (9)Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest." This Sunday, Christians world wide will be celebrating the resurrection ...

This New Year

Image
2011 is quickly coming to a close. None of us know exactly what will take place in the following year. One thing is for sure- we need the Lord Jesus Christ in our daily lives. He has to be the center of life and all other affections will flow out of His love. The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippian church put it this way in Philippians 3:13,14- Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."   The New Year is a perfect time to let go of those things which we can not control and put them in the hands of Christ. We also need to let go of bad attitudes and habits- not making a list of resolutions- but simply asking God to help us with those things "that easily beset us"- those things which hold us back from being all that God intended us to be. Let 2012 be the...

Unto Us A Child Is Born

Image
Isaiah 9:6 states in the NKJV: "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." We must remember that the story of Jesus Christ did not end at the stable. He did not remain a babe in a manger. He became a man, lived a sacrificial life and His very reason for coming into this world was to die for the sin of mankind. Through His death and resurrection He made available the means by which we can be saved. It doesn't happen automatically- just because He did this. We must take the gift that He gave us- eternal life- give Him our life in exchange and allow His life to flow through us to accomplish those things He desires. We must turn from our old ways- sin--- repent-- and turn toward His new and living way- being filled with His spirit so that we can become that sacrifice unto Him. During this busy season take some time...

Thanksgiving

Image
The Shepherd's Fold Apostolic Church wishes everyone a blessed Thanksgiving. Remember among all the good food and family fun, that there is no better way to give thanks than to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life. Ephesians 5:20 "Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." and Psalm 100: 4 "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him and bless His name." It is great to be able to set a national day aside to gather with friends and family and enjoy the blessings. But to make Thanksgiving Day truly a day of Thanksgiving we must have this attitude every day of the year. God inhabits the praises of His people and desires to be worshipped. If all Thanksgiving Day means to you is football, food and hitting the stores early for all the sales- that will not carry you through the rest of the year. We must have an attitude of thanksgiving every day of o...

International Day of Prayer for The Persecuted Church

Remember that tomorrow- Sunday, November 13 is the IDOP for our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters. We should be praying for all Christians on a regular basis, but this day has been set aside as an international event. Remember those who in prison or being persecuted for their faith. The following link will take you to one of the websites   http://www.idop.org/    Hebrews 13:3-- "Remember the prisoners as if chained with them-those who are mistreated-since you yourselves are in the body also."

Don't Get Caught Up in the Mad Holiday Rush

Image
The beginning of November usually starts up the winter holiday season. In all the hustle and bustle of this wonderful time of year, don't get caught up in the spirit of the world but keep the spirit of Christ within you. You may feel you just can't do all the things you normally do at this time, bake all those good foods and treats you want to bake, buy all those things you want to bake and make all those things you want to make. That's ok! I think that we as Christians should start thinking more simply. After all- Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks for what we already have- and Christmas is a time set aside to give thanks for the wonderful Gift of God's Son Jesus Christ. Don't be deceived into thinking that you have to have the newest and best thing, you have to give the latest fad that's on the market. Don't get caught up in the worldly spirit of greed, but get caught up in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Take this time of year and use it a time to g...
